In every class our senseis look for something real and good in each student and give a star in that field. Nobody races anyone here: this page shows the stars the whole dojo earned this week.

Our stars
In every class our senseis look for something real and good in each student, in one of these fields, and give that field’s star.
- Effort starDoing every repetition at full effort, even when you are tired.
- Perseverance starNot giving up after a mistake or a fall, and trying again.
- Focus starFollowing an explanation or a kata to the end without a reminder.
- Self-control starControlling your strength with a partner and staying calm.
- Respect starThanking a partner and taking a correction with respect.
- Helping starHelping a classmate and encouraging them.Answered with thanks, not counted
- Improvement starDoing something better than your own last time.
- Courage starTrying something new and hard, even when you feel nervous.
We do not count helping stars: helping is answered with a sincere thank-you.
No student is named on this page. Each family has its own private page with their child’s stars and the sensei’s words.
